Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. More Please.

by sara on November 14, 2010

Did someone forget to tell me that downtown Carrollton is adorable?  Or that Babe’s Chicken Dinner House is like going to your grandmother’s house with a bunch of strangers?  Thoughts of getting married and having the reception at Babe’s crossed my mind on Saturday night.

There are only a few things to explain about Babe’s and I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.  You choose from 6 proteins: fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried chicken tenders, smoked chicken, fried catfish or pot roast.  Your choice of protein comes with unlimited of the following sides: green salad, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, creamed gravy, green beans and homemade biscuits.  Everything was delicious, our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere is strictly caj.  I want to bring everyone I know here and compare food bellies afterward (I’ll win).

The warm, inviting courtyard area has rustic seating available while you wait for your table (we got right in but I wouldn’t have minded hanging out for awhile).

We started with salad.  It looks so simple right?  The secret to the salad crack is the dressing.  The waitress said it was simply vinegar, oil, salt and pepper.  But I think as she was walking away she mumbled the secret ingredient so no one would ever know.

I don’t even like fried chicken but just stop and stare at this picture for ten minutes.  Even I would drool.  For the record, I ordered fried chicken tenders so yes, I realize I make no sense.  The chicken tenders were retarded good.  They bring out a honey mustard dipping sauce with chopped up jalapenos and I kind of want to start pouring that over my cereal in the mornings.

The fried catfish comes with three pieces so if you need more protein in your diet, go for the fried chicken.  The above serving was a mix of fried chicken and fried chicken tenders for 3 people.  It was painful finishing but we did.

The sides were like a parade in my mouth.  MACY’S!

Man vs. Food: Man wins Man wins!  For dessert we shared coconut cream pie.  Mmmmmm.  Rull good.

Would you get in the hot tub with Manu Ginobli?  Didn’t think so.

Story of my life.

After dinner we walked around downtown Carrollton and I snapped a few pics to test out the new camera.

I saw this sign and it made me want to stop and think about everything I was thankful for but my stomach was so full that I had to keep moving or I would tip over.  Happy upcoming Thanksgiving everyone!
