Season’s 52: Autumn

FINALLY!  I’ve read about Season’s 52 on every food blog in North America and they just opened in Plano!  Friday was surprise date night so I told Jason to get his best Autumn sweater on because we were about to get our Foodgarbl on at a classy establishment.  Thanks to some awesome perks at work where I earn health reward points for jumping on a trampoline 4 times a month (no joke – trampoline jumping is an option), I was able to purchase a new Canon Rebel T1i digital camera and I AM OBSESSED.  The following pics are from my new toy.  Let’s get to dinner at Season’s 52 shall we?

Season’s 52 opened their Texas location at the Shops at Legacy.  It’s where the fancy people eat.  And where non-fancy people crash parties.  I am a party crasher.  We walked in reservation-less around 8:00pm.  The hostess told us there would be an hour and a half wait for a table in the dining room or we could hang out in the bar and have a glass of wine because the bar area tables are first come first serve.  I bet you can guess where we went.

We were surrounded by couples sipping glasses of wine and pretending to talk about stocks and Lamborghini engines while Jason and I planned our booth attack.  Forty minutes later and we see a table of 4 getting up to leave.  Somehow Jason was already sitting in the booth before I could even nudge him.  I’m engaged to Houdini.  At least during our 40 minute wait we got to hear the piano player sing along to Radiohead’s “Creep.”  Our waiter came over and spotted the Canon camera sitting on the table.  We had obsessive compulsive service the rest of the night.  Since it was our first time dining at Season’s 52, our waiter explained that everything on the menu is under 475 calories.  Also, the menu changes 4 times a year with the seasons.  Since it is Autumn, we could expect to find Autumn-like things infused in the menu.  Looking back on our meal, I don’t think we took advantage of those things with the exception of Jason’s mashed sweet potatoes.  Seasons fail 🙁

We started off with the Artichoke & Goat Cheese Flatbread as well as the edamame with green tea salt.  Both genius moves.  The flatbread was so thin but chocked full of artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, delicious goat cheese, caramelized onions and leaf spinach.  It was awesome.

I obviously haven’t mastered taking pictures in low light yet but I’d say it’s a step up from the ol’ iPhone eh?!  The edamame was perfectly cooked and the green tea salt was a unique dipping powder that elevated the edamame to a new level.

I probably could have stopped eating after the appetizers but if I was only at a maximum of 950 calories, I obviously had to keep going.  So, I ordered the Caramelized Sea Scallops with roasted asparagus and sundried tomato pearl pasta.

Jason went with the Venison chops off of the weekly special menu.  BAMBI CHOPS!  I almost started crying.  They were served in a balsamic vinegar reduction (phenomenal) on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with a side of green beans and asparagus.  All five points for plating.

I don’t mean to scare you but we weren’t done yet.  We ordered dessert.  You can’t just not order dessert when they come in cute little sampler shot glasses.  That’s like going to look at Vizsla puppies to pick ONE up for your boyfriend.  And coming home with two.  Zoops.

I think there were eight dessert options but we opted for the key lime pie, mocha macchiato, pumpkin pie with double gingersnap crust and meyer lemon pound cake goodness.

The only problem with these adorable glasses is that you have a hard time getting your money’s worth with just the spoon provided.  Luckily, I improvised.

After we had the first appetizer, Jason commented “this place has your name all over it.”  He’s right.  I loved everything about our meal and will definitely be back.  The menu is a little pricey but it is definitely worth it.  Plus, I plan on milking as many engagement celebration dinners as I can until Jason figures out what I’m doing.  What?  I’m excited about getting married!  REALLY excited.  SO excited I’m hungry again.

i hate seafood and those sea scallops look FREAKIN AMAZING!

Okay first of all, WHAT THE GREEN TEA SALT?!?!?! AMAZING AND GENIUS!!!!! Everything is only 475 calories???!!!!!!! ALL OF DFW NEEDS TO EAT HERE! I love the cristal clear pics. Not like china, but poppin bottles of criSTAL!!! Those desserts look bamf to eat and that pizza looks bamf to eat and the scallops look bamf to eat and so do the visclas. What? Racist. Yay I wanna try this joint! Right after Blue Gingie!
