McCall, Idaho – Christmas Morning

by sara on January 7, 2011

On Christmas morning we woke up to freshly baked cinnamon rolls!  Jason’s dad made these from scratch and oooooh were they delicious.  I bet if I ask nicely I could probably get the recipe.

After breakfast, gift opening!  I only have one picture of gift opening because I was not looking like a beauty queen after being sickly.  Jason’s dad shipped our gifts to us before we went to Boise so we didn’t have a bunch to open but we got a sneak peak when he showed us the page out of the William Sonoma catalog with the knife set he got us!  A 6 piece Japanese knife set complete with sharpener.  Watch out veggies, I’m comin for ya.  Nicole got Jason some really nice long sleeve shirts and an awesome wooden cutting board that we’ve already used like crazy.  She got me a Coach purse and a Giada cookbook!  I love them.  Thank you again Nicole!!

This is Diesel, Nicole and Steve’s dog.  I’ve never seen a dog more at home.  He would disappear for hours roaming the snowy mountains and then return ready for a nap.

Oh hello homemade Chex-Mix, there you are.

Oh and you brought your friend pecan pie, how nice of you.

To wear off the cinnamon rolls, Jason went sledding.  And I took his picture!  Calories burned: 2.

The trees were incredible.  It’s funny because we noticed everything about the nature around us (we’re from Texas, it was quite different) and Steve appreciated it because he was partially raised in McCall and doesn’t even notice things like fox tracks anymore.

We took the dogs on a walk through the snow field and captured some shots.

Jason.  A man.  Alone with his thoughts.  Until I run up beside him and plow him with a snowball!  We’re getting married.

Sorry bout that.

Gorgeous.  On the realz.

Rah roh.  It really does exist!  And it only has one leg!  Or three!  Two without toes!  Where you at National Enquirer?

Charlie helped us investigate the footprints.  He wasn’t skerrd so we weren’t skerrd.

Charlie and Diesel are whoadi’s for life.

Which one of these is not like the other.  Way to go Tarzan.

We left the sled there while we went for a walk and when we came back it was still there!  McCall Crime rate = zero.

Now that’s what I’m talkin bout.

Mirror mirror on the lake who’s the snowiest of them all.

I am now a fan of mountains.  I want to live near them.  I just maybe don’t want to have to ski down them a lot.

Triple D!  Guy Fieri over here!  Guy!  Can I get a picture with you?!  Kidding, this is Steve, honestly one of the nicest, coolest people I have ever met.  Nicole knows how to pick ’em.  He drove us all around the lake to take pictures and tell us about the history of McCall.

Aaaaaawwwwwwwwww.  The Warren Auto Tour!  So romantic!

Steve dropped us off downtown so we could walk back to the cabin for some exercise.  Here are some pics we took on that walk:

Crazy to think during the summer there are boats out there.  Seasons are silly.

I should have done the Polar Bear swim.  Didn’t even think of it.

Yeah, you like what I did there?  Up close tree trunk and far away landscape.  I’m like Ansel Adams but different.

Feel free to use this as a postcard.  Just send me royalties.

Rawesome.  Raw Awesome.  Rawly Awesome.

This was an indoor skating rink downtown.  A bunch of little hockey pucks in there.

Boat dock.  Winterized.

Downtown McCall.  Adorable.

Stores to buy things!  But not on Christmas 🙁

Fox tracks.  Oh snap.

The following three pics Jason took while snowmobiling.  They are pretty sweet so I stole them.

When we got back to the cabin there was awesomeness awaiting.  First, Diesel wanted to greet us.

Then we had surprise guests!  Steve’s family!  Little baby sledders!

So cute!

And then, this little guy.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  I think he might be the cutest baby I’ve ever seen.

He was hamming it up all night.  I want one!  Kidding, not yet.  Jason, calm down.

I want to send a very special thank you to Steve and his family again for letting us stay in the cabin and use all the fun snow toys.  We had an absolute blast!  Steve you have an awesome family and we can see why you guys all want to hang out together!  Also, a very sincere thank you to Nicole for making this trip happen.  We’re sold on Idaho 🙂
