What I’ve Been Up To

I really should have been blogging every day for the last few weeks.  I’ve had a lot of time on my hands.  Why?  I turned in my Quality Hat and I quit my job.

It was one of those decisions that was starting to consume my every thought.  Do I stay or go?  If I quit what will I do?  Should I start a company?  Do I have any skills?  What are my dreams?  What are my goals?  Basically I didn’t really find any answers to those questions but I had enough.  I was miserable.  A ridiculously long, stressful commute combined with what had become a non-fulfilling job made me realize I needed a change.

So here I am in a new year, about to turn 30, unemployed.  And it FEELS AWESOME.  No lie.  I’m scared for sure but I haven’t had this much freedom and sheer enjoyment in a long time.  Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:

  • Baking Snickerdoodle Dough Balls (Check out Mama Pea’s site if you have kids.  She makes just about everything look fun and she is witty and sarcastic just like I like it.)
  • Baking Raspberry Muffins
  • Cooking lasagna (Recipe to come)
  • Watching Dog the Bounty Hunter (Sick obsession)(If I become a bounty hunter will my boobs get bigger?)
  • Running my dogs.  A lot.  I missed their furry little faces.  (They are off their routine and very confused.  They’ll start to fall asleep and I’m like 2pm RUN TIME!  Let’s go!  So now they’re on guard.)
  • Attempting yoga (still have ADD)
  • Going to two weddings in the same dress (Have I told you I hate clothes shopping?)
  • Looking for jobs (Ugh)(Stay at home puppy mom doesn’t pay well)
  • Playing in the SNOW!  In TEXAS!
  • Being happy

I am on a mission to make the best snickerdoodles in the world.  This was step one.  I’m not there yet but these are mighty good.

Raspberry muffins.  I used whole wheat flour which apparently is different from whole wheat pastry flour.  Therefore, these are a little chewy and dense.  Then again so am I.

This lasagna is off the frickin hook.  Sit by your computer until you get the Foodgarbl dingy alert that the lasagna recipe is up.  Then clap your hands.

This is my friend Serene.  She makes lazy cake that will rock your world.  But you’ll never get the recipe because some things are meant to be kept secret.  Like how many detentions I got in first grade and the real reason why I bit my kindergarten teacher.

Uncle Deuces!  This is Serene’s uncle.  Don’t tell my real uncles but he might be my favorite.

I just want a job where I can show my ability to work well with others and prove my impeccable work ethic.  And dress like a pre-workout clown warrior.  Is that too much to ask?

I’m so glad you’re happy! SAHPM 24/7! That lasagna looks SO DERICIOUS! I need a lasagna recipe. Your talents were wasting away at this job, glad you crossed over to the bright side.
